Data Protection
This page explains what personal data is involved when you read PC DTV Tech Magazine or write to us, and what rights you have over it. The short answer is: very little data, kept for as short a time as practical.
Who is responsible
The site is run by the editorial team of PC DTV Tech Magazine. For any question about this page or your data, write to contact@pc-dtv.com. Mail sent there lands straight with the four editors, not a call center.
A static site, by design
Each article you read here is served as a finished file, assembled before you ever arrive. There are no user accounts, no comment forms, no shopping basket and no database collecting what readers do. In particular, the site does not use:
- analytics or visitor-counting tools;
- advertising networks or ad tracking;
- social media widgets that follow you around the web;
- fingerprinting or any other method of recognizing returning visitors.
Your cookie choice
When you first visit, a small notice asks whether you accept or decline. Whatever you choose is written to your browser's local storage, which spares you the same question on each new page. This entry stays on your device, is not sent to us and contains nothing that identifies you. The page The One Cookie Note explains how to remove it.
Hosting and server logs
Like any website, these pages are delivered by a hosting provider. When your browser requests a page, the provider's servers briefly record technical details such as your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the browser type and whether the request succeeded. The provider keeps such records to serve pages, defend against attacks and trace faults. We do not combine them with other information or use them to build profiles, and the provider keeps them only for a limited period under its own retention rules. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure, working website.
When you email us
Writing to us naturally shares your email address, plus your name if you sign off with it and the contents of your message. We use this only to read and answer you, and to fix an article when you report an error. The contact form on our Get in Touch page does not send anything itself; it opens your own email program with a message ready for you to review and send. We keep correspondence for as long as the conversation needs, then delete it. We never sell, share or add addresses to any mailing list.
Links to other websites
Now and then an article points to a website run by someone else. Once you follow such a link, that website's own privacy rules apply, and we have no control over what it collects.
Your rights
The General Data Protection Regulation, along with comparable laws elsewhere, gives you these rights:
- learn whether our inbox holds anything about you, and get that material sent over;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data deleted where there is no reason to keep it;
- limit our handling of that data, or object to it outright;
- take the data you supplied with you, in a commonly readable format;
- take a grievance about PC DTV Tech Magazine to the privacy regulator of the country you live in.
To use any of these rights, email contact@pc-dtv.com. We will respond within one month.
Changes
If the way this site works changes, for example if a new feature handled data in a different way, this page will be updated first. See also our Reading Terms.
